The Mission

The mission of EDEN is to bring awareness to the importance of nature-inclusive gardens and biodiversity, while giving people handles to make the needed change towards a more resilient, healthy and beautiful living environment. We want to make it easy for the user and better for the nature, to change the way one interacts with their garden.

The Challenge 

Due to climate change and declining biodiversity, our health and liveability are at stake. Our cities will have to increasingly deal with heat stress, drought, and water issues caused by climate change. In addition, the great reduction in species is harrowing, because biodiversity is crucial for the breakdown of organic waste, plant pollination, and pest prevention, as well as controlling the water cycle and purifying both water and the air we breathe. Local governments and initiatives have been working on bringing more green into the public space, but many Dutch gardens are still fenced and paved, excluding great beauty that nature can bring. How can we make it easy and accessible for everybody to make their gardens more nature-inclusive?

The Solution

We want to bring a service that makes it easy and accessible for everybody to understand their garden and its needs and make guided changes where desired. Via a platform users can get access to much expertise on complex gardening elements presented in an understandable way. Furthermore, gardening-kits with clear steps, delivered at home, will enable everyone to enjoy a healthy and lively garden. Users will be guided to interact with their garden in a dynamic and long-term manner.
